With two of the world’s biggest Warhammer 40k events taking place over the last few weeks, I thought it’d be interesting to take a look at the Stat Check Meta Dashboard to see how things have been going for Houndpack Lance lately.

After clicking through the various dropdowns and filtering for the Houndpack Lance detachment, the results… well, they don’t look great. In fact, they look really rough.
Let’s dig into the data.
Recent Performance Overview
Looking at the last few weeks — including weekends that hosted the biggest events of the year — here’s how Houndpack Lance has faired:
27% win rate
0 players achieving a positive win rate
67% of players managing 1 win
17% reaching 2 wins
The remainder finishing events with 0 wins
That paints a pretty clear picture: this detachment is a serious uphill battle in the current meta.
A Hostile Meta for War Dogs
The current environment seems especially hostile to the War Dog chassis.
A few more points from the data:
Detachment abandonment: Very few players are bringing Houndpack Lance to the biggest events.
ELO analysis: Among players using Houndpack Lance, none sit within the top two-thirds of ELO rankings — suggesting that top players either don’t rate the detachment highly or simply don’t enjoy running it.
The Meta top 80% ELO
This is a snap shot of the game from a top80% ranked player perspective.
What I see is that the player skill expansion armies really shine at the top, Ad Mech, Aeldari, Sisters, Drukhari and even Marines really rise to the top with very high win rates, as expected for any faction by players at the higher echelons of the game.
Looking through Best Coast Pairings (BCP), I found:
5 players running Houndpack at LGT
1 player (technically 2, but one list was a Titan and a couple of War Dogs) at LVO
That’s a pretty small showing at the largest stages.
What Does This Mean for Me?
Honestly? Not much changes.
I’m still on my mission to master and run Houndpack Lance for an entire ITC season. The data might not offer much inspiration right now, but that just makes the challenge more interesting.
After all, every underdog needs someone stubborn enough to stick with them — and I’m all in for the War Dogs.
