Games Workshop have now very nearly completed the launch of 11th Edition, and today we finally got the points update. You can check out the full points document here:
MFM Points 1.0
As a Houndpack Lance player, I've been a little apprehensive since Games Workshop's recent article confirmed that points and the app update would arrive today. In that article they explained that vehicles with strong shooting and/or powerful melee profiles would generally see points increases due to the way the game functions in 11th Edition.
Naturally, that had me worried that War Dogs across the board would take a hit.
Thankfully, that hasn't happened. Phew!

War Dog Points
As you can see, only Karnivores have increased in cost, going up by 5 points to 155. Every other War Dog remains unchanged from their 10th Edition points values, Brigands, Huntsman, Stalkers all 140pts and Executioners remain 130pts.
Overall, that's a very positive outcome for Houndpack Lance players.

Damned Unit Points
With access to Damned units and the Take and Hold Force Disposition, the next thing I wanted to check was the Iconoclast Fiefdom support options.
Cultists remain at 50pts.
With the inclusion of multiple units, the pts only rise on the 2nd units which were already over the 500pts limit of Damned units, no change.
Points for Damned units have remained largely unchanged from 10th Edition, with only the Traitor Enforcer receiving an increase. Considering how many factions have seen substantial adjustments, that's another net positive for Chaos Knights players looking to make use of these units and the Iconoclast Fiefdom detachment in general.
What Does This Mean for Houndpack Lance and Chaos Knights in general?
I believe Houndpack Lance finds itself in a very strong position heading into the opening weeks of 11th Edition.
Looking through the rest of the Chaos Knights roster, many of the larger Knights have taken significant points increases. Despoilers in particular have gone up considerably, and lists running multiple large Knights could easily find themselves paying 100+ points more than they were previously. Several other big Knights have also seen increases, making multiple Titanic chassis a much more expensive proposition.
Because of that, I suspect many Chaos Knights players will be tempted to start their 11th Edition journey with Houndpack Lance, adding flavour and flexibility through a 1DP Detachment rather than investing heavily in multiple large Knights.
At least for now, it looks like the War Dog horde remains alive and well.
What's Next?
For me, the theorycrafting is about to give way to actual games. I've got a full weekend of testing lined up, which should give me five games to get a feel for how Houndpack Lance performs in 11th Edition.
I'll be back next week with a full report on how it all went!
